In a content-driven approach, the design is created after the content has been entered. This means that the design can reinforce the message of the website – not just in general, but in a specific, targeted way.

In traditional website development, this is not usually the case. After planning, a web developer will create a design to capture the results of the planning process (and if the designer is good, the design will be successful). Unfortunately, leaving the content creation to be done after the design, can result in a disconnection between the design and the content. Creating the design after the content also means that nuances of the content can be more readily reflected in the design.
