Live Free Campaign
The client
Would you be willing to give something up for one day to help nourish children and youth in your community? That's the question the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is asking through its Live Free Campaign. Give up something for one day that you take for granted and donate that money to your local student nutrition program.
The Foundation is challenging schools, businesses and individuals to be involved. Encourage local businesses, friends, family, or members of your school community to sponsor you or participate themselves! After a couple of successful years of raising funds in Guelph and Wellington County, there are now Live Free campaigns in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, Halton, Waterloo Region, and Peel Region.
Client goals
Northern Village was involved with developing the original website for Live Free in Guelph and Wellington, and the Foundation now wished to expand the campaign to other areas. Each of the four new campaign websites (Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, Halton, Waterloo Region, and Peel Region) as well as the overall Live Free website, was intended to provide an overview of the Live Free campaign, and to encourage participation of schools, businesses, and the general public. The look across all the websites was to be unified, but each region needed to have control over its particular campaign website.
Implementation
Using Village CMS, Northern Village created a template campaign website with the basic structure and information that allowed each region to then tailor, manage, and update it according to its own needs (individuals within each campaign are trained to manage their own sites). The template also makes it easy for a unified look to be maintained amongst the main and regional websites.
A Posterous news blog appears on the main Live Free website feeds into each of the campaign sites, which further maintains a relationship between all of them.
A significant aspect of the Live Free websites are the registration forms, which Northern Village implemented using JotForm, an easy-to-use form builder (you can receive completed forms by email). Donations to the campaigns are managed by Canada Helps.
