The client

GuelphArtists.ca is a website run by Northern Village to promote and support the arts in Guelph, Ontario.

Client goals

The website acts as a catalyst in fueling Guelph’s abundant artistic creativity and strengthening its already vibrant artistic community. It is set up to create a way for artists to promote their work and showcase their talents while becoming a part of an ever-growing virtual gallery for the arts. Artists are able to upload their work free of charge as well as have access to a number of alternative social networking tools including starting a blog or creating a personal website.

Implementation

When creating GuelphArtists.ca, Northern Village had one simple vision; to make a self-sustainable website for artists, run by artists. Using ning.com, a social networking software that allows for easy, personal maintenance, artists are able to sign themselves up, add their own artwork in the form of an image or video and create their own artistic profile. They are also granted access to various networking resources to facilitate their artistic vision.
