The Client

Alden Hadwen is a poet and author living and working in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Having traveled extensively, Alden finds the landscape of South Western Ontario catalytic in her artistic endeavors. Along with a number of publications in various literary journals, Alden has written two books of poetry: Beautiful Druid, and her latest work, 12 Hockey Poems.

Client goals

Alden Hadwen contacted Northern Village to promote her latest book, 12 Hockey Poems, online. As an accomplished author with various other publications, Alden thought it best to have a separate website for 12 Hockey Poems, in order to distinguish it from the previous work she had publicized on aldenhadwen.com. As much as it was important for Alden to maintain distinction between the two websites, it was equally important to maintain congruence. Northern Village updated Alden’s own website making it compatible with hockeypoems.ca, as well as adding a link for quick access on the homepage.

Implementation

12 Hockey Poems provided a template to the website’s overall design, with its cover becoming the main page and central focus of the website. As one navigates around the website, various illustrations from the book are displayed under the different sub headings. Northern Village also installed a feature that allows for a random changeover of illustrations when the web page is reloaded. In order to facilitate easy purchasing of 12 Hockey Poems, Northern Village set up a hassle-free service tied with PayPal. There is also a way to display Facebook comments on the website and vice versa.
